About Our Food
At Ye Olde George we pride ourselves on serving the highest quality food, prepared by chefs with a passion for taste. We strive to use locally sourced ingredients wherever possible. In the heart of Hampshire we have a wealth of local suppliers, offering free-range and organic produce. Mark changes his menus often to take advantage of the local seasonal fayre.
Mark and his team of chefs pride themselves on making all of the dishes on the premises, except the hand-made ice cream, which is made at Forest of Bere Dairy, which is a local farm which supplies all of our fresh dairy produce. Our sausages are hand-made to our exact recipe by a local award winning butcher from West Meon, who also supplies our beef.
We use traditional recipes which include roasting veal bones to make our jus, which is used for the majority of our meat dishes. The menu changes to follow the seasons to offer lighter, fresh dishes in the summer and good hearty warming food in the winter.
The team are happy to cater for all kinds of dietary requirements, and given enough notice, can design a few dishes to suit all guests. At present we offer separate gluten-free and vegetarian menus. Please ask a member of staff on arrival if you have any dietary requirements or wish to see one of our special menus. We also offer a children's menu and a child's roast beef option on a Sunday.
